The parable of the weeds. Matthew 13. (the Bible)
In Christ’s parable we see the world where the good seed has been sown, but also the evil one the devil has planted his seed also. The scenario is the end times which it is apparent, started at the birth of the church. So we have seen and are continuing to see good and evil people, communities and also nations growing up in our world side by side.
The question the disciples asked whether they should gather the weeds was answered by Christ, No! leave them for in gathering the weeds you will also uproot much of the good planting. Wait until the harvest when all will be gathered in, then the weeds will be separated and thrown into the fire and consumed. The harvest is the end of the age where the evil, sinful people and nations, including the devil and his angels, will be judged and cast finally away from God into eternal, fiery separation from God, because of their continued rebellion against God.
This time is yet a long way off. In the mean time the great commission still pertains (Matthew 28. The Bible) Go therefore into the world preaching the truth of God ( *the God of the bible) and make disciples of all nations.
We have seen down through the past two millennia and before, many evil empires, nations and people who have risen up counter to the precepts of God, and caused untold death and destruction. There have been and still are a number of ‘religious’ movements in the world that are violently militant. These movements have and are continuing to kill and maim thousands of people in their mistaken belief that their god desires them to bring about a better world by their own man made philosophies. It is evident from so many of these groups that their motivation is hate for any who would stand against them or preach a different philosophy. All who are listening to these words, hear this, God is love. He is absolute in this and he has taught us all that we should love each other and seek the very best for each other whether we agree with each other or not. It is therefore morally wrong to have the hate filled stance we see many groups in this world having whereby they justify themselves in killing, maiming, raping and forcibly proselytizing people. This is not the way of peace and I cannot help but feel that I would not want to be in the shoes of any such individual or group when they appear before a holy and righteous God. That last comment is a warning to us all that in God’s time there will be judgement, righteous judgement, where we will not have a leg to stand on. No word to say or any argument except how our life was lived and how we treated Christ’s sacrifice for us on the cross of Calvary.
There can be no other standard to measure our lives against except the life of Christ. None of us have achieved His perfection for He is the Son of God. Let us fall on His mercy and receive cleansing from our sin. Seek to put wrong things right and make restitution where appropriate.
If all the world were like you and me, what sort of world would it be?
If all the world were following your philosophy what would the world be like?
If all the world were Christian it would still be very imperfect because we are still very human and full of flaws. Remember love one another as I have loved you, was one of Christ’s great commands.
So how can any man across this world justify rising up and killing his fellow man because he does not have the same belief system.
Remember in the end of the age the weeds will be gathered along with the good planting. God will judge the good from the evil, not us, and He will reward us for what we did with His love gift to us ie. Christ sent to be our saviour, healer and friend.
* for God to be God by very definition there can be only one God. So who is your god is it God (Yahweh, Jehovah) or some other man made one?
